QUIL LEMONS

Philadelphia native Quil Lemons has been creating safe spaces for Black, queer men with Glitterboy, his 2017 project that combated hypermasculinity in the Black community. Since then, Lemons has made waves becoming the youngest photographer to shoot the cover of Vanity Fair. Other notable accomplishments also include photographing campaigns for brands like Calvin Klein, Gucci and Palm Angels; plus capturing magazine covers for Variety, W and The Cut. While Lemons creates eye-capturing commercial work, he also continues sparking conversation with his artistic photography. His latest portrait series, “Quiladephia,” allows the viewer to intimately explore life as a Black, gay man. The series unapologetically showcases joy and pleasure in queer sexuality and encourages the acceptance and freedom of the full Black, queer experience. —G.E.
