MARK R. WRIGHT

Whether he’s producing award-winning movies or working as the Vice President of Film & TV at Higher Ground (former President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama's production company), Mark R. Wright is one of the top executives in Hollywood ensuring that Black stories are executed with a multi-layered perspective. Take his work on 2021’s Judas and The Black Messiah. The critically acclaimed film about the betrayal of Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton won an AFI Award for movie of the year and secured Daniel Kaluuya an Academy Award. In 2023, Wright also executive produced: RUSTIN, the Netflix biopic exploring the story of Black, gay Ciivil Rights activist Bayard Rustin, and They Cloned Tyrone, a sci-fi caper starring John Boyega and Jamie Foxx. Last year, the entertainment executive was featured on the Next Gen 2022 list by The Hollywood Reporter. Wright is clearly on the right path. G.E.
