ERNEST OWENS
The City of Brotherly Love definitely has a strong hold on award-winning journalist Ernest Owens. He was most recently named the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalist of the Year and serves as the editor of Eater Philly, a political writer-at-large for Philly Magazine, and the author of The Case for Cancel Culture: How This Democratic Tool Works to Liberate Us All. Owens’ is also the CEO of Ernest Media Empire. When he’s not writing, Owens is the executive producer and host of the podcast Ernestly Speaking! and host of Philadelphia City Council Live on WURD Radio. As an openly Black gay journalist, he has made headlines for speaking frankly about intersectional issues in society regarding race, LGBTQIA and pop culture. —K.M.
