ERIC HART JR.

At Native Son, what you see at the forefront of the platform also mirrors what’s behind the scenes. For this year’s Native Son Pride campaign and World AIDS Day campaign, Eric Hart Jr. was the Black, queer photographer who beautifully captured members of our community in all their glory. For the Georgia native, Black and queer subjects always remain at the center of his photography as he prides himself on ensuring our voices are heard and celebrated. This year, the 2022 Google Image Equity Fellow was featured on Out Magazine's 100 List. Hart has created many moving images for editorial giants like V Magazine, i-D and Rolling Stone. The photographer’s latest body of work is an extended photo series, When I Think About Power, which is formatted into a book of 70 portraits focusing on the notion of power as it relates to the Black queer body and experience. —G.E.
